College notes: TCU’s Brun takes lead at Big 12 Championship

Julien Brun of TCU shot a 6-under-par 66 and took the individual lead at the Big 12 Championship on Saturday in Trinity.
The Horned Frogs, meanwhile, are tied for fourth with Oklahoma State, both with an 887. Texas Tech leads with an 866.
Brun has a 211, three strokes ahead of Beau Hossler of Texas.
“Julien had a terrific day,” TCU coach Bill Montigel said. “He made a lot of putts and was great with his decisions.”
In other TCU news:• Track & field: Ronnie Baker finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 10.3 on Saturday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
“He did really well and getting second in the Drake Relays is exceptionally good for him,” TCU coach Darryl Anderson said.
On Friday night, Baker posted a personal-best 10.29 in finishing second in the preliminaries.
• Women’s golf: Sanna Nuutinen shot a 71 and is tied for 13th place at the Big 12 Championship in Austin.
TCU remains in last place with a 616. The Frogs shot 306 on Saturday. Oklahoma leads with a 583.
Big 12 tennis
The Baylor men and women reached the finals at the Big 12 Tennis Championships on Saturday at TCU.
The Baylor men beat Oklahoma State 4-2 and the women blanked Texas Tech 4-0.
In the other semifinals, Oklahoma beat Texas 4-0 in the men’s division and Oklahoma State beat Texas 4-1 in the women’s division.
The finals are at 1 p.m. today.
• Softball: UT Arlington (20-28, 4-12) lost to visiting Louisiana Lafayette 7-0 and 13-0 in a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader.
ULL is 37-7-1 and 15-1.
