Troy scored 11 runs in the first four innings Saturday night and UT Arlington’s comeback fell short as the Mavericks lost 11-8 at Riddle-Pace Field.
Outfielder Matt Shortall tied a career high with five RBIs for the Mavericks, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
UTA (19-24, 10-10 Sun Belt) faces the Trojans (21-23, 8-11) today in the rubber match of a three-game series. First pitch has been moved up to 11 a.m. to accommodate the Mavericks’ travel arrangements.
