UT Arlington combined to score seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings on the way to an 11-6 victory over Troy in Friday night’s opener of a Sun Belt Conference baseball series.
The Mavericks (19-23, 10-9 Sun Belt) belted 13 hits.

McLemore opened both big innings with a walk.
Holding a 2-0 lead, UTA scored four runs in the fourth inning. McLemore walked, Travis Sibley had a bunt single, Miller was hit by a pitch and Shortall sent a shot halfway up the wall in right field that ended up as a single, but knocked in two runs. Bottger followed with a run-scoring single.
The Mavericks tacked on three more runs in the fifth. McLemore walked, moved up on a ground ball, then scored on a single by Miller. Tate followed with a two-run home run, giving UTA a 9-1 lead.
Troy rallied for five runs in the bottom of the inning. But McLemore hit a two-run homer in the ninth.
