No. 2 Ragin’ Cajuns rally late to overtake Mavericks

No. 2-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette broke a 4-4 tie with four runs in the eighth inning and held on for a 9-5 victory over UT Arlington in the opener of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series Friday at Clay Gould Ballpark.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (34-4, 15-1 SBC) trailed 4-2 before scoring seven runs in the final three innings to hand UTA (16-22, 8-8) its second straight loss.
La.-Lafayette began its eighth-inning rally with three consecutive bunts, two for singles, to put runners on second and third. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Michael Strentz lined a two-run double to right off reliever Jacob Moreland. Blake Trahan and Seth Harrison added RBI singles to put the Cajuns up 8-4.
Today’s game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
