UT Arlington baseball wraps up road trip with visit to No. 6 Texas

The Mavericks have won 11 of their last 17 games to move above .500 in the Sun Belt.

The UT Arlington baseball team concludes a five-game road trip Tuesday with a midweek game against Texas, starting at 6 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin.

The Mavericks (16-20, 8-7 Sun Belt) took care of business at Georgia State last weekend, winning two of three and inching above .500 in conference play for the first time this season.

With powerhouse Louisiana Lafayette (No. 2 in the Baseball America rankings) headed to Arlington this weekend, UTA can could use all the momentum it can get.

After starting the season 5-14, the Mavericks have gone 11-6 and turned around their season. The Longhorns have won 14 of their last 16, but lost to Rice last Tuesday in Austin.

No. 6 Texas (29-8) is holding opposing teams to a .222 batting average. Only one pitcher with more than five innings has an ERA higher than 4.00.

The Mavericks have won two of the last five meetings, last beating the Longhorns 7-5 in 2012.
