College notes: TCU women’s tennis tops Kansas in finale

TCU beat Kansas 5-2 in a Big 12 women’s tennis match that was the home finale for the Horned Frogs.
Seniors Monika Sirilova and Millie Nichols paired to win their doubles match and each won their singles matches.
TCU is 12-11 for the season and 5-4 in the Big 12.
• Track & field: One week after tying her school record in the discus, Megan Smith broke her school record for the second time this season Saturday with a throw of 181 feet, 3 inches to win the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational in Los Angeles.
• Track & field: Clayton Vaughn and Noemie Forget broke school records at the Texas Invitational on Saturday.
Vaughn won the men’s100 meters in 10.07 and Forget cleared 13 feet, 1/4 inch in the women’s pole vault, beating the old record, which had stood since 1999, by five inches.
Big 12 baseball
• Texas 8, Oklahoma 1: Nathan Thornhill pitched a complete-game five-hitter, leading the Longhorns (29-8, 9-3 Big 12) over the Sooners (23-14, 4-5).• Oklahoma State 7, West Virginia 4: Zach Fish had two two-run singles, leading the Cowboys (26-10, 8-4) over the Mountaineers (16-15, 2-6).
• Texas Tech 11, Kansas State 7: Bryant Burleson had four hits and three RBIs, leading the Red Raiders (28-11, 8-7) over the Wildcats (20-16, 2-7).
