TCU pitcher Jordan Kipper’s last start was a whole like his first start — efficient and effective.
In between, however, he’s had a few rougher outings, including against UT Arlington. The Frogs and Mavericks play again at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Gould Ballpark.
Kipper (2-2), a right-handed transfer from Central Arizona College, faces Justin Schnedler (1-1), a right-handed junior transfer from Northeast Texas Community College.
On Feb. 25, the Mavericks struck Kipper for six runs (all with two outs in the third inning). In his last start on March 25, he held UT Pan American scoreless on four hits with seven strikeouts in five innings.
The Mavs (12-16) are on a four-game win streak, which started with a 14-3 rout of Baylor.
The Frogs (15-12) lost two of three at Oklahoma State over the weekend and learned they’ll be without freshman left-handed pitcher Ryan Burnett, who is out with a season-ending shoulder injury. Burnett had 10 strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings and hadn’t allowed an earned run in four appearances.
TCU hopes to get some good news about slugger Garrett Crain, who has played little since separating his shoulder for a second time on March 15.
