TCU faces Oklahoma in nonconference baseball game

The Horned Frogs will try to cool off the Sooners, winners of eight of their last nine.

TCU gets a taste of its Big 12 competition with a nonconference primer at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Oklahoma.

Right-hander Trey Teakell will make his first start of the season for the Horned Frogs (12-7), who are coming off a three-game sweep of Dartmouth over the weekend.

Teakell has no decisions in six relief appearances. He has a 2.92 ERA in 12 1/3 innings.

Anthony Hermelyn, Mac James and Hunter Haley — all Texas products — are the top run producers for the Sooners (15-5), who have won eight of their last nine.

TCU’s Boomer White looks to continue a hitting streak that has reached 10 games. White and Kevin Cron have reached base in each of TCU’s 19 games this season.

TCU begins conference play this weekend with a three-game home set against Texas Tech.
