TCU baseball hosts Dartmouth for weekend

NCAA strikeout leader Brandon Finnegan will pitch the opener for the Frogs.

TCU’s baseball team welcomes Dartmouth of the Ivy League to Lupton Stadium on Friday night for the first of three weekend games.

The Horned Frogs (9-7) will greet the Big Green (1-2) at 6:30 p.m. with left-handed pitcher Brandon Finnegan, who leads the nation with 45 strikeouts.

Finnegan, 2-2 with a 2.12 ERA, returns to the mound looking to rebound from a disappointing 2-1 complete-game loss last week in which he gave up the game-winning home run in the ninth to Michigan State.

Friday night’s game marks the first ever between the two schools.

Right-hander Louis Concato makes his first start of the season for Dartmouth, which has been playing baseball since 1866.

Preston Morrison and Tyler Alexander are the scheduled starters for games Saturday and Sunday for TCU. First pitch Saturday is 2 p.m. Sunday’s game begins at 1 p.m.

The Frogs began the season by winning six of their first seven, but since have lost six of their past nine, including 5-0 to Rice on Tuesday.

Boomer White carries a seven-game hitting steak in for TCU, ranked 27th by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
