The UT Arlington women basketball could not hold an 11-point lead and had trouble containing Arkansas-Little Rock’s Taylor Gault in a 69-60 loss to UALR on Saturday at Jack Stephens Center.
Gault scored a season-high 29 points, and Kiera Clark added 13 points and seven rebounds as the Trojans (14-10, 9-5 Sun Belt), who overcame a 37-30 halftime deficit.
UTA senior guard Laila Suleiman led the Mavericks with 18 points.
“This was a really tough loss for us today because I thought we were in control in the first half,” UTA coach Krista Gerlich said. “I liked the pace we were playing at. We were moving the ball well and we were following our game plan.”
The Trojans capitalized on a UTA cold spell in the middle of the second half with a 10-0 run to take control of the game.
The Mavericks return home to College Park Center to face Georgia State at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
