Arkansas St. rolls past UT Arlington women

UT Arlington suffered its third consecutive loss, falling to Sun Belt-leading Arkansas State 73-47 Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.
Aundrea Gamble led Arkansas State (17-9, 11-3 Sun Belt) with 19 points. Jalen O’Bannon added 15 and Carlisha Wyatt added 10.
UTA was led by Desherra Nwanguma with 22 points and 11 rebounds. However, the 47 points were the fewest the Mavericks (3-21, 2-11) have scored since managing only 46 against No. 10 Oklahoma on Nov. 20.
Arkansas State (17-9, 11-3) used a 14-0 run early in the first half to take a 40-26 lead at halftime. The Red Wolves shot 51.6 percent from the floor in the first half, including four 3-pointers.
The Red Wolves opened the second half with a 12-0 run to go up by 26, and they led by as many as 33 in the second half.
UTA shot only 34.5 percent (10-for-29) from the field in the first half and 37.7 percent (20-of-53) for the game.
UT Arlington will play at Arkansas-Little Rock at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Jack Stephens Center.
