UT Arlington men seek payback on road trip

As UT Arlington hits the road for a two-game swing through Arkansas this week, past transgressions can either motivate or linger.
The Mavericks face Arkansas State at 7 p.m. Thursday night in Jonesboro, Ark., and Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday with two chances to make up for unwelcomed losses earlier in conference.
The Red Wolves gave UTA a bitter reminder that they’re conference newcomers with a no-doubt-about-it 82-66 win in the Mavericks’ first Sun Belt game on Jan. 2. Couple that with UTA’s 3-9 record on the road and you have all you’d need to put the Mavericks in underdog status.
But that wouldn’t take into account how well the Mavericks have played over their last eight games, in which they’ve notched five wins and lost late leads in their two road losses.
If the Mavericks can win both games this weekend, they’ll be back to .500 and in fourth place in the Sun Belt with four games left in the regular season.
