For a team that returned seven starters and its two top pitchers, UT Arlington produced a disappointing weekend.
The Mavericks left 27 runners on base and were swept in their own ballpark by Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word and Oklahoma State, only churning out two extra-base hits all weekend.
They hope to put their slow start behind them when they head to Waco for a midweek game against Baylor at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at Baylor Ballpark.
The Bears dropped two of three against Arizona State on opening weekend, so both teams are itching to prove they’re better than they’ve showed.
Baylor has won seven of the last eight meetings between the two teams.
