UTA sprinter sets school record in 60-meter dash

Clayton Vaughn’s time of 6.55 is the fastest in the NCAA this season.

UT Arlington senior sprinter Clayton Vaughn set a school record Saturday in the 60-meter dash. His time of 6.55 seconds was the fastest in the NCAA and the eighth-best in the world this season.

In addition, Vaughn placed sixth in the 200m with a time of 21.28, the best mark in the Sun Belt Conference this year.

The native of Sulphur Springs, Texas, was named the Men’s Most Valuable Performer of the meet. It was just his third meet back since he suffered a season-ending leg injury last March.
