QBs, receivers, four-star RB lead TCU’s 2014 class

Players signed: 24
Tarrant-area signees: 5
Offense: Five offensive linemen should help bolster an area of concern. Ty Barrett, from Dallas Skyline, is a four-star offensive tackle who chose the Frogs over multiple offers. Longtime commits Foster Sawyer and Grayson Muehlstein should offer an interesting battle at quarterback over the next few seasons. TCU’s highest-rated signee was running back Shaun Nixon from Lake Travis. He was rated the nation’s 18th-best running back and switched his commitment late from Texas A&M to TCU. Two four-star receivers — Corey McBride and Emanuel Porter — gives TCU options in a much-needed area.
Defense: Six of the 11 defensive players signed are defensive backs, which is one of the stronger areas of TCU’s current roster. Two are junior college transfers — cornerback Corry O’Meally and safety Kenny Iloka. Linebackers Vinny Ascolese (6-foot-2, 235 pounds) and Ty Summers (6-3, 220) help provide depth at a position in need.
Immediate Impact: Ty Barrett, offensive tackle. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound lineman could jump in the fray as a freshman.
