After nearly breaking through for its first Sun Belt Conference victory in school history Saturday, the UT Arlington’s women’s basketball team has another tough test on its hands Wednesday in Bowling Green, Ky.
While the losses continue to pile up for the Mavericks (1-17, 0-7 Sun Belt), senior center Desherra Nwanguma has stepped up in conference play, averaging 20 points and 13 rebounds in the past four games.
On Saturday, forward Briana Walker found success inside the paint as well, before being sidelined with foul trouble in the 73-72 overtime loss to South Alabama.
The duo will need to be on their game Wednesday against Western Kentucky (13-5, 5-2).
The Hilltoppers, who are second in the Sun Belt standings behind Arkansas State, feature one of the league’s premier post players in Chastity Gooch, who is averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds a game.
