TCU freshman Jada Butts sidelined for rest of season with knee injury

Butts was injured at the end of the first half Saturday at Oklahoma.

TCU freshman guard/forward Jada Butts will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury, school officials said Tuesday.

Butts suffered the injury as time expired in the first half Saturday during TCU’s 63-52 loss at Oklahoma.

After tracking down an Oklahoma player on a breakaway, Butts made a steal and broke for the basket for a layup opportunity as time expired. Butts was fouled on the play, but the injury was not a result of the contact.

Butts, who graduated from Lewisville, did not return for the second half and is not expected to play again until next season.

Butts had seen her role on the team increase, which included making her second career start on Saturday. She saw action in 18 of 19 contests and was averaged 4.8 points and 3.3 rebounds.

TCU returns to action against No. 11 Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Oklahoma State is going for its fourth straight road win to begin Big 12 play, which would be a first for the program.
