UT Arlington men look to get even in Sun Belt play

Mavericks guard Reger Dowell is one of only five players in the country averaging at least 20 points.

After splitting a two-game road swing, the UT Arlington men’s basketball team returns home for a televised conference game against Troy with a chance to reach .500 in Sun Belt play.

The game will be televised on the Sun Belt Network at 8 p.m. Thursday at the College Park Center.

Reger Dowell returned to the lineup after missing two weeks and delivered 16 points to lead UTA to a victory over Texas State on Saturday. Dowell is one of only five players in the country scoring more than 20 points a game (21.6 ppg) after not averaging double digits last season.

Dowell leads UTA into its first meeting with the Trojans, who have lost their past two games. The Trojans are better off keeping the game as low-scoring as possible, since are only scoring 67.3 points a game this season.

The Mavericks are averaging 78.1 points a game, but they have a tendency to let other teams get hot at the College Park Center.
