Sheraton Hawaii Bowl
Boise State vs. Oregon State
7 p.m. Tuesday, Aloha Stadium, Honolulu
Records: Boise State 8-4, 6-2 MWC; Oregon State (6-6, 4-5 Pac 12)
Key points: Oregon State, which has struggled defensively, hasn’t won since the middle of October, a 49-17 win against Cal. Since then, Oregon State has lost to Stanford, USC, Arizona State, Washington and by one point to Oregon. The Beavers have also lost their past two bowl games. Quarterback Sean Mannion and receiver Brandin Cooks lead Oregon State. Mannion has passed for 4,403 yards with 36 touchdowns to 14 interceptions, and Cooks won the Biletnikoff award after collecting 1,670 receiving yards with 15 touchdowns. Boise State will test Oregon State’s defense. The Broncos are scoring 38.8 points a game. Oregon State is giving up 32.1. Bosie State will be interesting to watch after longtime head coach Chris Petersen left to take the open spot at Washington. Bryan Harsin is set to lead the Broncos next year, but Boise State, which has won four straight bowl games, will play today with an interim head coach.
Tarrant ties: Boise State redshirt freshman lineman Steven Baggett played at Arlington Martin, and sophomore lineman Rees Odhiambo went to Mansfield Legacy. Broncos senior receiver Aaron Burks, who had 16 receptions this year for 286 yards and three touchdowns, attended Mansfield Timberview.
