The UT Arlington women suffered their ninth straight loss to open the season, falling to Northern Arizona 85-65 on Saturday afternoon.
NAU (3-3) shot 68 percent from the field in the first half to build a 48-32 halftime lead. The Lumberjacks shot 59 percent for the game.
Leading 12-8 early, the hosts went on a 14-0 run. NAU’s lead ballooned to 23 in the second half.
“The first-half run that NAU went on was detrimental. It was the difference in the ballgame,” UTA coach Krista Gerlich said. “We couldn’t get the stops when we needed them and we didn’t execute well.”
UTA shot 33 percent from the field. Desherra Nwanguma and Briana Walker led UTA with 14 points each, and Laila Suleiman had 11.
