Alzee Williams scored 18 points and Jordan Williams added 15 more along with 10 rebounds as North Texas defeated Southeastern Louisiana 75-61 on Saturday night for its third straight win.
Chris Jones contributed 14 points, and Keith Coleman scored 10 for the Mean Green (5-3).
UNT took a 41-27 lead at halftime on the strength of 50 percent shooting.
“I thought our guys came out tonight with the right mindset,” UNT coach Tony Benford said. “They played with a lot of energy and passion early and played hard. I thought we did a great job defensively in the first half. I thought offensively we executed and took good shots.”
Though its shooting prowess tailed off a little in the second half, the Mean Green was up by 18 at one point and never allowed the Lions (3-3) to get within single digits. Southeastern Louisiana shot only 34.4 percent for the game, including just 3 of 16 from 3-point range.
UNT had a 45-37 edge on the boards with Colin Voss grabbing 12 rebounds. Jordan Williams’ double-double was the first of the junior’s career.
