The UT Arlington women’s basketball team is back at home Sunday, facing Virginia Commonwealth at the College Park Center at 1 p.m.
The Mavericks (0-5) are continuing to search for the winning formula as another tough opponent comes calling. VCU (3-1) is off to a fast start, coming off a 67-57 victory Thursday over UT Pan American in the first game of its Texas road swing.
UTA struggled to guard Oklahoma’s 3-point shooters in a 99-46 loss on the road Wednesday. The Sooners made 14 3-pointers in the win.
VCU might not shoot the 3 with the same accuracy as OU, but the Rams have not been shy about hoisting it up from long range to start the season. VCU comes into the game hitting 34 of 122 3-point attempts for a 27.9 percent mark, while the Mavericks have made 12 of 55 (21.8 percent) from 3-point range in the first five games.
