Late 3-run HR drops Cats in championship opener

Rio Grande Valley’s John Harris broke a tie with a three-run homer in the top of the 11th to send the WhiteWings to a 5-2 victory over the Fort Worth Cats in Game 1 of the ULB Championship Series on Saturday night.
Both teams’ starting pitchers went nine innings, allowed two runs, walked two and struck out eight while both received no-decisions.
The Cats’ Jeremy Gooding allowed nine hits, and WhiteWings starter Celson Polanco allowed six.
Both sides went down in order in the 10th before Fort Worth reliever Dylan Rucker (7-2) issued consecutive one-out walks in the 11th to set up Harris’ winning shot.
