Big innings power San Angelo over Cats

The San Angelo Colts scored four runs in both the fifth and six innings and added three more in the eighth on the way to a 12-5 victory Tuesday over the visiting Fort Worth Cats.
Austin Newell went 3 for 4 for San Angelo with a two-run homer to cap the scoring in the sixth inning and put the Colts up 9-1. Cory Morales went 2 for 3 with a two-run double in the top of the eighth as the Cats cut the lead to 9-5, but the Colts added three more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Demetrius Banks (4-2) gave up gave up three runs — one earned — on eight hits in 7 1/3 innings for San Angelo. Cats starter Brandon Cowan (1-3) gave up five runs — four earned — on five hits in 4 2/3 innings.
