Fort Worth Vaqueros look for first win in weekend home matches

Halfway through its inaugural season, the Fort Worth Vaqueros FC still seeks its first win in National Premier Soccer League play.
This weekend presents two opportunities, with home matches Friday and Sunday. With only five games left in the NPSL’s South Central Conference season, the Vaqueros (0-1-4) hope to make it to the postseason.
“The team knows we need to get three points Friday and Sunday in order to keep pushing for the playoffs,” coach Mark Snell said.
Because of yellow-card accumulation, the Vaqueros will be playing without their captain, Joshua Hernandez.
Regardless, “we have players ready to step in,” Snell said.
Midfielder Hernandez will return to the pitch for Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Corinthians.
The Vaqueros’ offense is feeling extra pressure this week, having gone scoreless in the past three games. A different player, however, has scored each of the team’s four goals this season, so the team feels good about its odds of scoring Friday night.
“We just need to keep playing our game, and the goals will come,” Snell said.
