Curtis Camilli pitched a three-hit shutout to lead the Fort Worth Cats to a 3-0 win over Brownsville on Friday night at LaGrave Field. It was the Cats’ fourth straight win.
Brownsville (8-12) leads the United Baseball League in batting with a .285 average but couldn’t find an answer for Camilli (3-1). Camilli, whose 1.78 ERA is second best in the league, struck out four and walked three in his first complete-game shutout of the season.
Chad Kruse — who is second in the UBL with a .376 batting average — accounted for all of Brownsville’s hits on the night.
Shortstop Stephen Malcom put the Cats (12-12) on top in the fourth inning with a two-run home run, his second homer of the season.
Edwin Gomez added an insurance run in the fifth with a two-out walk with the bases loaded that scored Ryan Lashley.
The Cats continue their homestand at 7 tonight against Brownsville.
