Tied game gets away from Cats in ninth

Rio Grande Valley blew open a tied game with a seven-run ninth inning and handed the Fort Worth Cats a 12-5 rout at LaGrave Field.
The WhiteWings had 19 hits, including six in the ninth. The Cats committed two errors in the inning.
Rio Grande Valley (12-6) tightened its grip on first place in United League Baseball, and Fort Worth (8-12) continued its slide down the four-team standings.
Fort Worth led 3-1 after one inning, and RGV added a run in the second. The WhiteWings tied the score at 3-3 in the fifth before the Cats went ahead 4-3 in their at-bat.
Two more runs in the sixth gave RGV a 5-4 lead, but the Cats tied it 5-5 in the eighth when Calvin Culver reached by error, took second on wild pitch and scored on an error.
The WhiteWings then put the game out of reach in the ninth inning.
