Tuesday’s Rangers-Twins lineups: Ron Washington sticking with what has worked

MINNEAPOLIS If one start on extra rest is any indication of how Scott Baker will perform Tuesday in place of Yu Darvish, the Texas Rangers are going to have to score a pile of runs.

MINNEAPOLIS If one start on extra rest is any indication of how Scott Baker will perform Tuesday in place of Yu Darvish, the Texas Rangers are going to have to score a pile of runs.

Then again, maybe Baker will be better on three days’ rest.

But the Rangers’ suddenly hot lineup remains largely in tact for the second game of the series at Target Field. The only change from the lineup that scored seven runs Monday is that Donnie Murphy will DH and Michael Choice is on the bench. Manager Ron Washington said that Murphy needs some at-bats, so Choice is out as Shin-Soo Choo as returns to left field after two days at DH to nurse his sore left ankle.

The Rangers have scored 42 runs the past five games and are hitting .349 in that span. They are also the best road-hitting team in the majors, at .286.

Rangers lineup vs. RHP Phil Hughes: Shin-Soo Choo, lf; Elvis Andrus, ss; Mitch Moreland, 1b; Adrian Beltre, 3b; Alex Rios, rf; Chris Gimenez, c; Leonys Martin, cf; Donnie Murphy, dh; Rougned Odor, 2b.

Twins lineup vs. RHP Scott Baker: Brian Dozier, 2b; Joe Mauer, 1b; Trevor Plouffe, 3b; Oswaldo Arcia, rf; Josh Willingham, dh; Chris Parmelee, lf; Kurt Suzuki, c; Eduardo Escobar, ss; Hicks, cf.
