Monday’s holiday was anything but festive for the Fort Worth Cats who lost twice to the Brownsville Charros and fell below .500 for the season.
Sunday night’s suspended game resumed Monday with Brownsville ahead 6-1 in the fifth. It ended with the Charros winning 7-1.
Monday’s scheduled game was shortened to seven innings but that was still too many for the Cats (3-4). Brownsville romped 14-4, scoring three runs in the third, two in the fourth and eight in the fifth before the Cats scored their first.
Julio Franco’s hitting streak ended at five games as the 55-year-old went 0-for-7 in the two games.
