Edwin Gomez hit a three-run home run, and 55-year-old former Texas Ranger Julio Franco knocked in one run as the Fort Worth Cats (2-2) downed the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings 6-2 at LaGrave Field.
Franco has hit safely in all four Cats games this season and is batting .267 (4 for 15). Julian Griffith and Adam Kam knocked in one run apiece on Friday.
Cats right-hander Curtis Camilli (1-0) went eight inning, allowing eight hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
Gomez gave Fort Worth a 3-0 lead in the second innings. He faced an 0-2 count on two swinging strikes, drew a 1-2 count and fouled off another before his three-run blast.
