Ian Kinsler scored after all three of his doubles Friday night, and Scott Baker surrendered six runs over six innings in his first start of the season as Detroit rolled to a 7-2 victory over the Rangers.
The loss snapped the Rangers’ winning streak at two, and the win snapped the Tigers’ losing streak at four.
The Rangers briefly led 2-0 after the started the second inning the with three straight hits off Anibal Sanchez. The third was a Mitch Moreland double that one-hopped the wall in left-center and brought home Adrian Beltre and Alex Rios.
Native Texan Austin Jackson, though, tied it in the Tigers’ have with a two-run homer, and Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera started the third with back-to-back doubles to give Detroit a lead that was never threatened.
After allowing the three second-inning hits, Sanchez retired 14 of the next 15 Rangers batters.
