J.J. Henry, a Fort Worth resident and former TCU standout, joined two past major champions in Monday’s latest wave of golfers who have committed to play in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, May 19-25 in Fort Worth.
Louis Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open champion and No. 38 player in the world golf rankings, and Lucas Glover, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, joined Henry in an eight-player addition to the Colonial commitment list. Other players who have pledged to compete in Fort Worth include Sean O’Hair, Bo Van Pelt, Heath Slocum, Brian Harman and Ben Martin.
Henry, 39, will be making his 13th consecutive appearance at Colonial. His best career finish in Fort Worth is a tie for 22nd in 2009. Henry has three top-25 finishes at PGA Tour events this season, with a scoring average of 71.89.
Oosthuizen finished 19th at the 2012 Colonial, his lone appearance in Fort Worth. He was slated to be the highest-ranked golfer in last year’s field until he sustained a neck injury while competing during weekend rounds at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. Oosthuizen, ranked No. 7 in the world at the time, withdrew from the 2013 Nelson before the final round of that event and later withdrew in Fort Worth.
Colonial commitments are unofficial until May 16. For tickets, visit CrownePlazaInvitational.com.
