UT Arlington men look for quarterfinal win Friday night

Senior guard Reger Dowell scored 18 points, junior guard Jamel Outler came off the bench to add 16 points, and No. 6 seed UT Arlington defeated seventh-seeded Louisiana-Monroe 68-65 in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament Thursday.
UTA (15-16) advances to face Louisiana-Lafayette (20-11) in the quarterfinals tonight at 8:30.
Anthony Walker scored a season-high 12 points, 10 in the second half, and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Mavericks. The junior center scored four times on offensive rebounds, three being dunks.
Trailing 36-32 at halftime, UTA began the second half on a 8-4 run that included two follow-up slam dunks by Walker and a Dowell-to-Walker alley-oop to tie the game at 40.
Dowell and South Hills graduate Brandon Edwards received their All-Sun Belt Conference awards before the game.
