About the Avalanche: Defenseman Ryan Wilson is expected to return Tuesday from a back injury. Wilson hasn’t played since Nov. 6 against the Nashville Predators. ... Jean-Sebastien Giguere will be the starting goaltender after Semyon Varlamov drew the start Monday in the first of the back-to-back set against the Stars. ... Colorado started the season 12-1-0 and is 10-8-1 (21 points) over its last 19 games.
About the Stars: Dallas opens a two-game homestand and will play seven of its next nine games at American Airlines Center. But the Stars have struggled on home ice this season, going 5-4-4, including an NHL-worst 1 for 47 on the power play. ... Tyler Seguin leads the Stars in goals (18) and points (33). Tuesday’s meeting is the fourth of five between the teams this season. Dallas will host Colorado in the finale on Jan. 27.
