ARLINGTON - Texas left-hander Matt Harrison and third baseman Adrian Beltre combined to send the Rangers into the All-Star break riding their longest winning streak of year.
Harrison pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings and Beltre hit a two-run homer to lift Texas past Oakland 2-0 Sunday afternoon. Texas has now won seven consecutive games and is 10 games over .500 for the first time this year. The victory also capped an 8-2 homestand for the Rangers.
Harrison only allowed two Oakland batters to reach second base on his way to allowing six hits while striking out seven. He evened his record at 7-7 while lowering his ERA to 3.04.
Texas didn't have much better luck against Rangers-killer Trevor Cahill unitl the sixth inning. That's when Beltre followed a Josh Hamilton walk with his 19th homer of the season, a laser to left-center.
The Rangers had just five hits off Cahill in his 7 2/3 innings. Harrison left after allowing a two-out single in the eighth, but that inning ended when Mike Napoli threw out Coco Crisp trying to steal second.
Neftali Feliz closed out the A's with a perfect ninth for his 18th save.
