Q: Dear Sirs, I am wondering what is it going to take for the Cowboys to finish off a season on a winning note? From September to November they are fine, but from December to January, their play seems to regress. What can they do different this year to fix this problem?

A: Boy, that is a good question. This team, going back to Bill Parcells tenure, just somehow losses it at the end of the year. Wade Phillips won't admit it, but they lost their edge down the stretch. That must be prevented this year and something they have to emphasize in the locker and meeting rooms. I don't believe the theory some have that teams figured Jason Garrett's offense. The Cowboys clinched and put it on cruise control, plain and simple. With Parcells, I think they were worn down by the end of the year -- mentally and physically. Watch out...Cowboys have a tough stretch at the end of this year with Pittsburgh, NY Giants, Baltimore and Philadelphia. - Rick

Q: Have you witnessed any of the Cowboys veteran players with all the past and present media attention taken from last years disappointing and for some of us a dismal ending to a highly promising season, having said that and those players endured a long off season and seeing all of the changes that have occurred both managerially and player personnel wise, have you been privy to seeing any of the veteran players individually take a leadership stand in order to propel the Dallas Cowboys to take their rightful place in the Super Bowl, and more importantly leadership wise do whatever it takes to be victorious in Tampa?

A: The leaders on this team are the same from a year and now you have another strong voice with linebacker Zach Thomas. And he's one driven to get a Super Bowl ring. There is no doubt this team is motivated by last year's failure. They still have bad taste from the loss and know the expecatations have risen despite not winning a playoff game last year. - Rick

Q: Can we have more coverage regarding the first round draft picks and other draft choices? TO and Adam are both known commodities but I would like to hear how the rookies are handling thier new responsibilities. Thanks

A: Just a quick run down: Felix Jones - The consensus is this guy is legit. The veterans have raved about him thus far Mike Jenkins - Talented, should fit in nicely. Martellus Bennett - Has more talent and athleticism than he knows what to do with, but is very raw. Tashard Choice - Nice player. Hasn't made a big splash. Orlando Scandrick - Very solid. Could contribute this season. Those are the ones that matter.

Q: Does anyone on the planet--no, no...universe--get injured more than Terence Newman? I remember Parcells comparing guys like Newman and Glenn to high performance vehicles (or high maintenance vehicles or something like that), his point being that if they don't have all their muscles tuned up, they tend to break down a lot. He appears to be right.

A: Terence does seem to have an injury bug that follows him around. It was the knee in his second season that dogged him. Last season it was the foot. Now it's the groin injury. He reminds me of a sprinter in that they can break down a little bit.
