Cheers: To Platinum Construction and all the volunteers who helped with the clean-up at Indian Harbor on Lake Granbury after the tornado. Thanks to all the volunteers throughout the area providing assistance to those who were in the path of these devastating tornadoes, and God bless the victims.

h Cheers: To the Grapevine-Colleyville area. After my mother suffered a stroke, my parents moved from Houston to Colleyville. Leoni Michael found them a home, Marcy Roitman-Boothe gave Dad a job, Dr. Oliver gave Dad dental work that made his smile complete. Thank you for your love and kindness.

h Cheers: To the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district for offering professional development opportunities in early childhood education at no cost to private pre-schools and day care centers in the H-E-B area. All H-E-B personnel are friendly, helpful and encouraging, and our staff always learns something new we can use in our program.

Jeers: To Texas Sens. Cornyn and Cruz for putting guns, money and bullets over the safety, health and welfare of Texans and other citizens. Plus, those senators who joined their ranks should be ashamed of themselves. This convinces me of the need for term limits for all politicians.

Cheers: To Walking Tall Ranch in Pilot Point for taking in 10 dressage horses, their distraught owners and their trainer/instructor on very short notice. Owner, staff and other boarders were very welcoming and attended to our every need. We are all settled in and very pleased.

Jeers: To a local landscaping company that would not come back to our property to evaluate problems with our newly planted grass. No follow-up to numerous calls and emails. Nothing! Guess their motto is: “Get our money and it’s done!”

Cheers: To the three outfielders of the Texas Rangers baseball team. I love the way they come together with a hug at the end of the game. It looks so sweet.

Jeers: To the Fort Worth Opera for not warning the public about the profuse use of profanities and vulgarities in the performance of Glory Denied. The foul language in the dialogue cast a negative image on the whole opera festival and portrayed Fort Worth as a city of unrefined roughnecks.
