Jeers: To opinionated TV sportscaster Dale Hansen’s recent “unplugged” sports segment where he once again reminded us that he is of much greater moral and ethical fiber than all of his viewers. It did not surprise me when I heard that Dale was on the Ellen Degeneres show.

hCheers: To H.G.S. of Coppell. Thanks for finding and mailing my ID holder to my house. Come by the downtown library so I can thank you in person and find out where I dropped it. I work in the circulation department.

hCheers: To our Weatherford postman. Our young grandchild wrote us a long letter and addressed the envelope herself. It read only “Grandma and Grandpa.” Somehow it arrived. We’ll treasure it always. We can’t thank him or her enough for extraordinary effort.

hCheers: To the nice man whose name was “Smith” who bought five cousins their lunch on Jan. 22 at Capt. D’s on Camp Bowie Boulevard. We Bishop cousins came from three different areas to meet, and it made our day. Thank you, Mr. Smith.

Cheers: To Russia and especially the people of Sochi. Also to President Putin, the dancers and entertainers, as well as the security forces, workers and volunteers for a safe, magnificent Olympics opening ceremony. A worldwide performance at its best.

hCheers: To the two ladies who picked up my husband after he fell from a gust of wind in Ridglea Jan. 27. Inside the building were two maintenance men who worked hard to stop the bleeding on his face. You are to be commended for your concern.

hCheers: To Cancun Restaurant and the staff for allowing us to have our “Celebration of Life” dinner in memory of my niece, Diana Ruelas, on a busy Saturday night. We had a very large group of family members, some with special needs. Their service, meals and drinks were great.

hCheers: To Saginaw Officer Jeff Stone who responded to a request to investigate why June Ahern wasn’t answering the telephone. He found her on her floor incoherent due to a brain injury. She had been that way for over 24 hours. Officer Stone’s response saved her life.

Cheers: To the unknown angel who gave me a ticket to see Olga Kern play at the Piano Pavilion at the Kimbell Museum. It was a lifetime experience for me and I will always relish it. Thank you so very much.

hCheers: To Mike Carrera, store director of Albertson’s at Loop 820 and John T. White Road, for making available more handicapped parking places. They are very much in use and seldom is there a vacant one. I know because I use one when I shop there.
