hCheers: To the gentleman who gave up his place in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Lake Worth. He saw my handicapped daughter and noticed that I would have a very long wait to get helped. We’ll pass on the kindness to others.

Jeers: To America for accepting illegal abandoned kids. They are breaking the law. Accept them and expect more to come. Cheers to California protesters for blocking the buses. When you get them on buses drive them back across the border where they belong.

iJeers: To the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History for not including special exhibits in expensive family membership tickets — $11 each for the Indiana Jones exhibit priced our family out of seeing it. All other museums include special exhibits with membership. We used to love you.

iJeers: To the downtown street cleaner driving his noisy machine up and down the same streets between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. while people are trying to sleep. Five hours! The same streets! And it had rained hard the day before! Next, we will have to replace the worn-out streets.

iJeers: To the Texas Railroad Commission for refusing to allow interviews. The three-panel commission should come to the next public forum with their hands covering their eyes, ears and mouth with a sign reading, “We see no earthquakes, hear no complaints and will speak no evil about the fracking gas industry.”

Cheers: To the British-born percussionist/singer who, because of Walt Disney and Fess Parker, became an Alamo addict. God bless Phil Collins, and God bless Texas. Remember the Alamo!

iJeers: To the Obama administration for ordering our American embassies to fly the rainbow flag along with the Stars and Stripes over the July 4 holiday.

hCheers: To Officer Hennessy of the North Richland Hills police for taking the time from his bike patrol to talk with my son and answer his questions and concerns.
Tuesday, Jul. 01, 2014
hCheers: To Szechuan Chinese Restaurant on Bryant Irvin Road for exemplary customer service for the past 10 years for the nonprofit Fort Worth Dressage Club. Great service, great food and great friendships have been the hallmark of our monthly meetings at this noteworthy establishment.

Cheers: And a big THANK YOU to Fort Worth police officers and firefighters for standing out in the pouring rain to guide motorists through flooded intersections during the rain event on Tuesday. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
