hCheers: To the H-E-B store on U.S. 377 in Granbury. I called them to see if they carried a product that a few years ago could be purchased at Brookshire’s in Benbrook. They had what I wanted and they are shipping me a new supply. I was so happy for the special service from them.

iJeers: To Lesley Hensell Demond and your mean-spirited Oscars comment in “The daily STEW.” I’m neither vapid nor ignorant. I volunteer in my community, schools and church, am active politically, have a wide range of interests and friends, and I never miss the Oscars. Be more kind and tolerant.

Jeers: To Ian Kinsler with his ridiculous comments about Jon Daniels being a sleazeball and hoping the Rangers go 0-162.

hCheers: To the fourth floor staff at Texas Health Specialty Hospital. Thanks to everyone in the unit for their care, love, support, expertise and compassion. There are not enough adjectives to express my indebtedness to each and everyone of you for your help in my sister’s 50-plus-day stay in your unit.

hCheers: To the North Richland Hills Public Works Department. Recently I reported a problem with my street-side water cut-off valve. Within 18 hours, department personnel had corrected the problem and even installed a new water meter. Really thankful I live in NRH!

hCheers: To the kind lady behind me in the check-out line at Kroger in Haltom City who asked if she could pay for my groceries. I’d had a particularly bad day (a sad anniversary) and somehow having something good happen, totally unexpected and from a stranger, helped toward putting my world back in order.

Jeers: To Ted Nugent. Ted, you made a promise that if President Obama were re-elected, you would either be dead or in jail. You may not be coherent enough to know, but a promise is a promise. Man up. Your choice.

hCheers: To Oncor and Standard employees, Tim and Cory, for prompt action in replacing worn power lines from the pole to the house. Three days from the call to Oncor the lines were replaced. Best customer service ever.

hCheers: To everyone who took time to line the Cowtown Marathon route and encourage all the runners. Your smiles and kind words are great motivators to keep running. Cheers also to the Cowtown Marathon staff for another organized, safe, fun event.

hCheers: To the kind lady Samaritan who paid for our lunch at the Great Wall of China in Saginaw on Feb. 25. My mother, myself and my niece were so surprised when the owners’ daughter-in-law told us. Your kind gesture was greatly appreciated and unexpected. Thank you.
