Cheers: To Sheriff Dee Anderson for his Sept. 28 article showing care and compassion toward others less fortunate. It’s proof that he is the only Republican in Tarrant County worth voting for. Or in most of Texas, for that matter.

Jeers: To the Chisholm Trail Parkway. Since it opened in May, it seems that progress on the remaining construction has slowed to a crawl. Meanwhile, traffic congestion in the construction area at South University Drive and Interstate 30 is a nightmare all day long. I guess we need just a little more patience, because the parkway was supposed to be “complete” by late September.

hCheers: To the gentleman with Lubbock roots at the Arlington In-N-Out Burger Sept. 18 who took time to thank my Vietnam veteran Marine husband for his service. And, to all folks and /businesses that show appreciation. Glad we do a better job recognizing the service/sacrifice of our veterans.

hCheers: To the Keller Fire Department and EMS for taking great care of my mom after she fell in the Kroger parking lot Sept. 7, and for tracking me down. Also to those who called 911 and stayed with her, and to the staff at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth trauma center.

Cheers: To the grand jury that refused to indict the Fort Worth letter carrier who should not have to put up with a loose dog while delivering mail. Jeers to the dog owner who let his dog run loose.
