Cheers & Jeers

hCheers: To the lady who paid for an elderly woman’s groceries when she could not find her credit card. This happened at the Sam’s Club in North Richland Hills. You are an outstanding person.

iJeers: To the United Methodist bishop for North Texas for suspending an 85-year-old minister for performing a wedding for two men. The United Methodist church is losing membership, and this trend will continue as long as they have leadership by old men who are not willing to keep up with the changing times.

— R. Sloan Breneman,

North Richland Hills

hCheers: To the Fort Worth police officer who stopped behind me on the Interstate 35W exit. It was at night and he put himself between me and the heavy traffic. I believe he prevented a tragic accident and saved my life, and I did not even get his name.

— Jeff Bell, Fort Worth
