Cheers & Jeers

Cheers: To Aledo Florist on East Oak Street. A birthday arrangement ordered by my son in Denver was truly breathtaking and lasted for two weeks. I’ve never seen or received more beautiful, fresher flowers, no matter the cost. Such a delightful change from expensive, inferior quality Internet orders.

Jeers: To all the mystery and crime solving shows that don’t come close to Bill Kurtis and his team ( Cold Case Files on A&E). They were well documented, concise — two cases in an hour — with excellent narration. All we now see are reruns. They ought to lure him out of retirement at any paycheck he wants.

— E. Beasley, Fort Worth

Cheers: To the Arlington Yacht Club, With Richard Simpson Park its hub; Sailboats gracefully glide on the lake, As they race with their crews, trophies to take; Walking trails with Lake Arlington views, Would make people heartier enjoying the hues; Keep the park water-absorbing and green, Preserve the peaceful nautical scene.

— Carole Underwood, Arlington
