h Cheers: To the many kind and brave people who assisted all of us during the recent ice storm. As I watched the news and saw you out in the freezing temperatures sanding the roads, shoveling and assisting stranded motorists, I was truly touched. Thank you is not enough.

i Jeers: To the Cleburne branch of the U.S. Postal Service that failed to live up to its motto that the mail must be delivered. On a recent Wednesday, it was late (after 8 p.m.). Then on Friday and Saturday, no mail. I called and got tons of excuses. No wonder the U.S. Postal Service is always in the red!
— Michael Simons, Cleburne
h Cheers: To the two Good Samaritans who helped me up after I slipped on the ice in front of Dale’s Doughnuts off Camp Bowie Boulevard. With my two new replacement knees, your help and strength were much needed and appreciated. Thank you for extending the holiday spirit.
