Earlier in the summer, I sent the Tarrant Appraisal District information for my senior homestead exemption. I was surprised when I got my tax bill for the full amount.
Upon calling them I was told the information had not been processed until September, and that I might have to pay the full amount this year. They did not know if they would have time to make corrections before the bill was due.
I called the tax collector’s office and was told that a new computer system had been installed at TAD and that it was causing problems. And, yes, I might have to pay the full amount or be liable for all penalties and interest.
I take exception to this because I provided the information seven months before taxes have to be paid by Jan. 31, 2016. I wonder how many more of us have this problem.
Please put humans to work on the job and take care of it. I’m so tired of hearing about computer problems as an excuse.

At of this writing, high schools in the Fort Worth district have 47 wins and 69 losses in football.
I wonder if the system could be reworked to make Fort Worth schools more competitive with the suburban and private schools in the area. I’d like to see Fort Worth on a par with everyone else.
Fifty years ago, Fort Worth had some of the best teams in the state.
How about this?: Four high schools — say, Arlington Heights, Paschal, South Hills and Dunbar — would be able to accept kids as transfers. After football season, they could return to their regular schools.
Grades, of course, would have to be kept up.
My taxes have gone to the Burleson school district for 40 years, so I can’t be too worried about this situation. But I would like to see Fort Worth schools do well in football.

After observing and listening to the aspirations of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, one wonders if they are all drinking out of the same bottle of national socialist water.
