One of Greg Abbott’s priorities is passing the open-carry gun law. It must be truly vexing to be one of only seven states still missing out. Yet Texas being No. 1 in America for the highest number of uninsured is a total non-issue, not even worth a mention.
The Sunday editorial stressed that Abbott and Patrick must lead effectively and change the tone in Austin. There was no mention of healthcare.
Giovanni Capriglione wrote what he felt the new Legislature will do. No mention of the uninsured.
Lon Burnam listed his priorities for the incoming Legislature. Healthcare was not shortlisted.
Richard Greene’s column focused on how the new conservative Congress must thwart the president and how the republic is safe for a while longer. He did, however, mention healthcare: He called for a total repeal of Obamacare.
The Texas GOP’s elephant in the room is and always will be the unconscionable number of uninsured.
Its third-world mentality towards healthcare will never change.
