Everyone is bashing the Affordable Health Care Act. I for one am grateful for it.
When my husband got laid off, the company was too small for COBRA and I doubt we could have afforded it anyway. So for four months I went without insurance.
Since I have pre-existing conditions, I kept getting turned down.
With ACA I was able to get insurance and government help in paying for it and see the doctors I needed to see and get the medicines that I had been going without since they were too costly.
For those of you who can afford and get insurance without any problems, good for you. Many of us as we get older don’t have that luxury. My only hope now is that the people we have voted for it don’t take us back to the old ways and we end up in the same sinking row boat.
I have never asked for help and my pride took a bit of a hit, but I had to decide, do I keep my health as it is or watch it get worse because I can’t afford my meds?
I chose to let my pride take a backseat. So thank you to all who made the ACA possible. Please keep it going.
