In your August 10 “Talkback,” Mr. Seth Davidson stated: “We do not hate President Obama. We hate socialism.”
I’m not sure which country Mr. Davidson lives in, but if he lives in the U.S. he is surrounded by socialism.
The Oxford Dictionary defines socialism as “A political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.” Our country is a blend of capitalism and socialism. Socialism is taxpayer funds being used collectively to benefit society as a whole.
If Davidson hates socialism, then he hates the following examples of socialism in America: the defense industry; the military; highways; roads; police; fire departments; postal service; garbage collection; farm subsidies; FBI; Social Security; Child Protective Services; public schools; courts; jails; prisons; disabled veterans health care; parks; elected government officials and their salaries; Medicare; zoos; FDA; air traffic controllers; disability insurance (SSDI); unemployment benefits; corporate bailouts from taxpayer dollars; city buses; Centers for Disease Control; public street lighting; Department of Homeland Security; Department of Agriculture; NASA; and National Weather Service.
The list could go on.
