I am appalled by the outpouring of uncompassionate sentiment from Americans for the immigrant children fleeing Central America.
This is a nation that was founded by immigrants from England.
This is a nation that is comprised of citizens whose ancestors emigrated from many countries to seek a better life. (My own ancestors came from Ireland, Germany, England and Poland.)
As American citizens we need to demonstrate compassion toward these individuals, no matter what our political beliefs are.
Never miss a local story.
I appreciate Bob Ray Sanders and Bud Kennedy for using their columns to help us to understand this situation and to encourage compassion.
