I am appalled by the outpouring of uncompassionate sentiment from Americans for the immigrant children fleeing Central America.
This is a nation that was founded by immigrants from England.
This is a nation that is comprised of citizens whose ancestors emigrated from many countries to seek a better life. (My own ancestors came from Ireland, Germany, England and Poland.)
As American citizens we need to demonstrate compassion toward these individuals, no matter what our political beliefs are.
I appreciate Bob Ray Sanders and Bud Kennedy for using their columns to help us to understand this situation and to encourage compassion.
