(The following letter, originally published July 4, is being reprinted due to an editing error.)

One way or the other, many letters to the editor such as the one by Ruby Henley on June 25, continually express the erroneous mantra, “George Bush’s lies led us to invade Iraq.”

Here are the facts that anyone can verify:

• H.J.Res. 114 (107th): Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq:
• Introduced Oct 02, 2002, passed House, Oct 10, 2002, passed Senate Oct 11, 2002, signed by the President. Oct 16, 2002. This bill became Pub.L. 107-243.
• Congress authorized the war in Iraq. Twenty-three Democrats were co-sponsors of the Resolution.
• These are some of the prominent Democrats who supported the war: Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Joe Biden and Harry Reid.

Many Americans now believe in retrospect that the war in Iraq was not worth the cost, but to exclusively blame George Bush for the war is disingenuous.
