Silence is telling

A few weeks ago, I wrote that I would ask our two Texas senators and Rep. Joe Barton for their positions on funding veterans’ healthcare.
I did not receive an answer from either Barton or Sen. Ted Cruz.
I did receive an email from Sen. John Cornyn, but he did not respond to my question about his prior positions.
Their silence on this question is telling, and it leads me to view their current outrage over the VA with cynicism.
I grant that lack of funding is not the only answer to the current problems at the VA, but there is no question that the current wait times for appointments would have been mitigated by sufficient funding.
If they have voted against funding in the past, then our elected representatives are playing the politics-as-usual game.
